Home-Race Heartbreak for Abbi in GB3 Silverstone Season Opener

Abbi endured a heart-breaking Silverstone, after a last lap collision denied her a podium in Race 2 of the 2026 GB3 Championship season opener.

Rodin Motorsport Driver & Ambassador Abbi Pulling kicked off a new season in the GB3 Championship at Silverstone.

Abbi hit the ground running, topping the 2nd test session in Official Practice – finishing in the Top 5 in every session in the run-up to Qualifying on Saturday.

Saturday Qualifying once again saw Abbi show her speed at the home of British Motorsport – setting the 4th fastest time with a 1:50.361, just 0.023s from P3 after a strong opening season.

Session 2 straight afterwards saw an incredibly close session, with Abbi setting a 1:49.676 lap time, which was just 0.042s from P2 – putting her P5 on the grid for Race 2, less than 0.004s from a P3 grid slot!

Race 1 on Saturday afternoon saw Abbi exit Turn 1 in P5, before a moment in Becketts put her under pressure and drop to P6 after the opening lap.

She kept the pressure on the battle for P4 ahead, before a wide moment at the exit of The Loop on lap 6 dropped her to P8.
Abbi pushed on to regain lost ground, before a rear suspension failure with 8 minutes of the race to go – forced her into the pits to retire from the race.

The second race of the weekend saw Abbi move into P4 at the start and held position well throughout the opening exchanges on the fringes of the Top 3.
A Safety Car was deployed 10 minutes into the race, following the Hillspeed of Bouznelos stopping on track. Abbi managed her restart well to retain P4, before being elevated into P3 following the retirement of Deagan Fairclough ahead – bringing out the second Safety Car of the race.

Racing resumed with just enough time for one final lap of racing. As they got back to racing, Abbi was under huge pressure at the restart - going three-wide into Stowe corner and pulling off a brilliant move to retain her podium position! Sadly it wasn’t to be, as the driver behind launched over the inside kerb at Club corner, making contact and going over the top of Abbi’s car - wiping her out of the race and denying her a first podium of the 2026 season.

Race 3 saw Abbi start from P8 in the partially-reversed grid. She made a slow start, dropping to P12 but shadowed her teammate Martin Molnar throughout the opening stages.
Following a mid-race Safety Car, Abbi moved up to P11 – before pulling off a great move around the outside of her teammate at Club, securing a place in the top-ten. She managed to move herself into DRS range of the car ahead, but ran of laps to make any further progress – finishing P10.
She was later elevated to P8 in the final classification once post-race penalties were applied.

Abbi Pulling:

"Weekend done, I am happy with the pace we showed and carried in from pre-season.
Qualifying P4 and P5, less than 0.005s off the front row was incredibly positive and it proved I have the pace.
Race 1 sadly we had a rear suspension failure, meaning no points from such a promising starting position.

Today in Race 2, we were in the fight for an overall podium - running in P3 which was awesome! But I ended up with a car on top of me on the last lap, which took it away from me - that one hurt a bit...

Then the reverse grid race, Rodin Motorsport did a brilliant job to get the car repaired and back out in time!
A massive thank you to them for their efforts.
Sadly something did fail during the race, which meant turning right was a bit difficult but I managed to nurse it home to P8 in the end.

I felt we deserved so much more from this weekend, but I will keep believing in myself and knowing that all pre-season, quali and the races - I had the pace.
Just got to keep my chin up for Spa and give it everything I've got!

Huge thank you to Rodin Cars, as well as all my partners and fans who visited this weekend and for all your supportive messages!"

After a fantastic qualifying, luck was never sadly on Abbi’s side – as a podium and a pair of strong points scores were lost due to a last-lap collision and a component failure respectively.

Abbi will next be in GB3 action at Spa-Francorchamps on the 28-31 May, for Rounds 4-6 of the 2026 season.
