Abbi Takes a Trio of Top-10 Finishes in Budapest

Abbi Pulling secured a Top-10 result in all three GB3 races at the Hungaroring for Rodin Motorsport.

After a short break to recharge and refresh – Abbi returned to action at the Hungaroring in Budapest, for Round 4 of the GB3 Championship.

Abbi settled in well, with the Rodin Cars Ambassador setting the 2nd fastest time in the opening session of the weekend. Session two however saw Abbi pick up damage and missed most of the session due to repairs being required – albeit her time from the morning session was good enough for P2 overall.

Qualifying saw the Rodin Motorsport trio head out together, with Abbi emerging in P6 into the final moments of the session – before just being pipped in the final moments down to P8 at the flag, with Abbi ending up just 0.144s from P3 on the grid!

The second qualifying session started shortly after, with Abbi improving on her laptime from Q1 – heading into the final minutes of the session once again in P6, before a late flurry of laps saw her finish the session in P7, only 0.123s from a Top-5 starting grid spot.

Race 1 on Saturday afternoon, starting from P8 - Abbi held P8 in the opening corners before being forced wide at turn 4 and dropped to P10. Abbi soon was back in the DRS zone of the car infront in the opening stages, before a Safety Car was deployed on Lap 4.
Abbi was on the attack on the restart, attempting a move on the outside of Turn 3 but was forced wide and held P10.
She was later pushed off the circuit by a rival behind, dropping her to P11 – which she held to the chequered flag.
Post-race, Abbi was promoted to P10 following a steward’s decision on the incident late in the race.

Abbi started P7 on the grid for Race 2 on Sunday morning and made a solid start heading into Turn 1. However, she got boxed in at the apex – which saw her lose a couple of places through the exit and another after being forced to the outside of Turn 3.
Despite the unfortunate start, Abbi managed to retake P9 at half distance and immediately hauled in a 2-second gap to championship contender Patrick Heuzenroeder in just 4 laps.
She crossed the line P9 at the chequered flag, just 0.3s off P8 after showing strong pace and tyre management in the second phase of the race.

The third and final race of the weekend saw Abbi start from P5. A difficult launch and running wide at Turn 1 put her on the back foot – dropping her to P8 on the opening lap. Lap 5 saw Abbi battle with teammate Alex Ninovic into Turn 1 – with Alex slipping past with a brave move around the outside, demoting Abbi to P9.
Her pace was good throughout the remainder of the race, keeping in touch with the two pole-sitters from the weekend of Ninovic and Al Azhari ahead.
She crossed the line in P9 at the finish – capping off her Budapest weekend with a trio of Top-10 finishes.

“There were a lot of positives to take from the weekend - mainly being that I felt was my pace was back, after two difficult weekends at Zandvoort and Spa - due to the car issue we found.

Race pace was especially strong in race 2. The car was feeling good - so a big thank you to the team at Rodin Motorsport for their hard work.
I just need to improve myself in a few areas in Qualifying and hook everything up across the weekend -  then I feel we will be back right at the front!

I’m looking forward to returning back home to Silverstone in a few weeks to start the second half of the season.
As always, a big thank to you to Rodin Cars, my sponsors and everyone for their continuous support.”

Following three European races in a row, Abbi heads back home to Silverstone for Round 5 of the GB3 Championship on the 2nd-3rd August.
